Kimberly-Clark to Close 5 Plants
Nov. 30, 01 DALLAS (CBS.MW) -- Shares of Kimberly-Clark rose 4 percent Friday after the Dallas-based paper goods manufacturer reportedly said it will close five plants, affecting about 1,400 people.
The maker of Kleenex tissue and Huggies diapers told analysts in a conference call that it will close four small plants in Latin America and one plant in the United States, according to a report by Reuters.
Mead News Mead Completes Sale Of Gilbert Paper
11/30/2001 DAYTON, Ohio. November 30, 2001 - The Mead Corporation (NYSE:MEA) has completed the previously announced sale of the Gilbert Paper Company and selected assets to Fox River Paper Company. As a result of this transaction, Fox River Paper Company will produce and sell all of the Gilbert Paper Company products as part of a separate branding strategy. Mead will have a 20 percent interest in Fox River Paper Company LLC.

Pactiv Announces Sale Of Single-Faced Corrugated Business
LAKE FOREST, Ill. - November 26, 2001 Pactiv Corporation (NYSE: PTV) today announced the sale of its single-faced corrugated business based in The Netherlands to Palm Industrie Beteiligungs GmbH Co. KG. The single-faced corrugated business had sales of approximately $20 million in 2000. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The sale of this business is another step in the restructuring of the Companys Protective and Flexible Packaging segment announced in January 2001.

SCA Complements its US Tissue Operations
Nov. 21, 2001 SCA has acquired the US tissue company Encore Paper Company Inc. at a price of USD 92 M (approximately SEK 930 M) on a debt-free basis. The company, which is integrated, has an annual converting capacity of about 6 million cases of Away-From-Home (AFH) tissue products. The paper capacity amounts to 85,000 short tons per year, exceeding the converting capacity with approximately 15.000 short tons.
