Presently employed as Superintendent Projects with PanAfrican Paper Mills, Kenya – a joint venture between Orient Paper & Industries, India; Government of Kenya & IFC, Washington – since October’ 1997.

The key responsibilities include:

§         §          Preparation of project cost estimation for various projects.

§         §          Retrofitting of stock preparation system of paper m/c, causticising plant, chemical recovery system, ESP for chemical recovery boiler & chemical pulp mill.

§         §          Erection & commissioning activties of various projects such as multi-fuel boiler of capacity 20tph @ 12 bar, ESP for rotary lime-kiln & pulp mill.

§         §          Maimntenance of paperboard m/c & chemical pulp mill.

§         §          Implementation of various energy-conservation measures in the entire plant.

§         §          Trouble-shooting of various technical problems arising throughout the plant.

§         §          Coordinating & synchronizing activities with various departments, contractors & consultants visiting the site.

August’ 1995 to June’ 1997: Deputy General Manager – Production  

Kitti Steels Limited, Heavy Engineering Division, India.

The key responsibilities included:

§         §          Review & modifications, if any, of engineering designs.

§         §          Planning production schedules for the machine building shop.

§         §          Manufacturing, fabrication & assembly of equipment required for various process plants such as cement plant, steel plant & sugar plant.

§         §          Selection of engineers & technicians by coordinating with HR.

§         §          Coordination with Quality Control Department for implementation of ISO9000.

 

December’ 1989 to August’ 1995: Dy Chief Engineer-Mechanical

Hindalco Industries Limited, India.

The key responsibilities included:

§         §          Project planning of various expansion projects.

§         §          Erection & commissioning of reduction plant with dry-scrubbing sytstem, caster plant, cold, BHEL coal-fired boiler of capacity 140TPH at 80Kg/cm sq., ESP, DM plant, compressor plant, refrigeration cooling system having humidification provision for MCCs & computer control units, water treatment plant, effluent treatment plant & carbon plant.

§         §          Revamping of hot & cold rolling mills.

§         §          Coordinating the maintenance activities during trial – runs.

§         §          Capacity expansion of alumina plant – first to 3.5lacstpa & then to 4.5lacstpa – by coordinating with civil, electrical, instrumentation & mechanical (piping, millwright & fabrication) departments.

§         §          Manufacturing of equipment required for Aluminium industry.

§         §          Handling of plant safety systems during day–to-day operations. I was also the chairman of the Safety Committee of the construction division of Hindalco Industries Ltd. & received safety awards for three consecutive years.

 

October’ 1987 to October’ 1989: Superintendent-Mechanical

The key responsibilities included:

§         §          Commissioning & maintenance – normal & preventive – of BHEL recovery boiler, ESP, evaporation plant, hypochlorite plant, MOL plant, recausticizing plant, effluent treatment plant, workshop & garage.

§         §          Interviewing & selection of technical personnel for the company.
